Road Trip

Caroline is changing everyday. She is such a joy and everyday is something new.
My silly girl!

She loves her babies, and takes care of them--carrying them around, patting them to sleep, and feeding them a bottle. It is so amazing what they learn.

Several weeks ago Caroline was playing in "her" kitchen cabinet, which is full of plastic bowls. She pulled out a plastic pitcher and took off through the kitchen. I wondered what she was up to, so I followed her. To my amazement, she had taken a bowl into the living room where the cat, Jack, was sleeping and was giving him "water" with the pitcher. She had seen me and Josh do this many times, and she was trying to help! It was precious, but scary that she mimics us as she does...monkey see, monkey do!

We are going to have to be more and more careful about the things we do and say...little ears and eyes!

She loves to play dressup!
At our 20th Golf Benefit on September 14, Mimi brought Caroline out the course. She had so much fun riding around the course on the golf cart. She was definitely a hit with the golfers! This past weekend, Josh had his first weekend of his PE study class, and we all traveled to Houston. Caroline always loves to "GO." In fact, she is now using the word in context! I should have known one of her first words would have been go. So, when we loaded up to leave town--she was ready! She had her toys, bag of food, and her music.

We had a great time with our cousins, Adam, and of all things...staying in a hotel.

Caroline, Adam & I went to the Natural History museum on Saturday, and she loved the Butterfly exhibit!

On Sunday, we went to church with Paige, Mark, Bryce & Camille. She went to Sunday school without any hesitation. Camille & Caroline looked so adorable in thier matching red checked dresses! Camille was thrilled to show her off to her friends at church.

Where Has Summer Gone?

Whew! I cannot believe that summer has come and gone. I am really behind in putting up new pictures of Caroline. Since her birthday, we have had lots of visitors or been visiting family & friends, and been busy keeping up with "Little Miss." She is walking well--almost running now, and into everything. She is talking more than ever, except we still cannot understand a word. It sounds like a mix of Japanese & French, but, she knows what she is talking about...of course!

She also has discovered the Backyardigans, Wonder Pets & Jack's Big Music Show, and LOVES THEM! She dances, claps & stomps her feet when the intros come on. Even though her attention span is that of a gnat, she perks up each time she hears the music. Recently, her Mimi gave her "Pablo" & "Uniqua," characters from the Backyardigans, and you would have thought that the cartoon came to life and walked into the room! It was too precious.

The only negative about these "catchy" shows is that the songs enter your brain, and you sing them the rest of the day... "Your backyard friends...the Backyardigans!" And on, and on, and on....UGH!

In mid-August, Caroline stopped attending Building Blocks to start school at our church's daycare, Noah's Ark Learning Center. So, Caroline got to spend 3 weeks with her "Aunt Phedie." Phyllis definitely spoiled us the time she was here, and was such a great help! I know that she misses Caroline almost, if not more, than we do her. She is now at her new school and adjusting to new surroundings. She does get excited each morning we go, pointing at the playground.

Over Labor Day weekend, we took Caroline to the Zoo. I think she had a grand time. The weather was decent, and not too hot. She especially thought she was "big stuff" riding the carousel.

Currently, I am busy with work, having our National Meals On Wheels Conference last week, and our 20th Golf Benefit coming up a week from Thursday! We hope to raise close to $75,000 for Meals-on-Wheels. Even though it is a fun day, I will be glad when we have time to breathe a little, and life back to "normal," well , as normal as possible!

Josh is also busy at this time preparing to take his PE (Professional Engineers) exam in late October. He has his prep course in Houston later this month. Caroline & I plan to go with him one weekend to visit family and friends we have not seen in awhile. Be praying that he passes this exam, as it will mean that he will be a licensed engineer in the state of Texas...and a pay raise!? I will keep you posted on his progress.

As promised, but a little late...here are some of our favorite pictures of Caroline from her first birthday. Enjoy!

The Birthday Girl!
On Friday, her actual birthday, we had a small family party.

Eating Cake

Caroline's Birthday Party on Saturday was well attended by our family and friends...I think Caroline was a bit overwhelmed by everything! But, as you know, she was not shy!

Mimi made beautiful arrangements for the tables

One week & Counting...

Caroline will be a year in one week! We cannot believe how quickly that this year has flown by. She has taken her first few steps, but still a little "unsure" of herself. I do miss her being a baby, but each new day brings a new adventure.
My silly girl!

Bathtime is always fun!

Caroline loves to play with the T.V. changing the channels for Mommy & Daddy!

Yum...Mac 'N Cheese!

Caroline loves the kitty...he just doesn't know what to think about her!
We did not do much for the fourth of July. Just enjoyed having the day off together.
On her way to being a true, blue American...She loved her flag!
She also loves her swimming pool. We have been able to enjoy it more lately with the cessation of the rain.
Love to you all!
